Bourse ends week on the up; deals on NDB boost turnover

Reuters: Stocks rose for the second straight session on Friday, further recovering from a two-week low, led by buying in conglomerate John Keells Holdings Plc while block deals boosted the turnover, dealers said.
The main share index rose 0.21%, or 12.35 points, to 5,948.75, its highest close since 17 October.
Shares in John Keells Holdings rose 1.05% to Rs. 222.30 while shares in Carson Cumberbatch PLC rose 4.47% to Rs. 394.90.
National Development Bank PLC accounted for 73% of the day’s turnover of Rs. 1.48 billion ($11.34 million), which was well above this year’s daily average of Rs. 875.8 million.
Shares in NDB closed 0.39% up at Rs. 153.60.
Foreign investors were net buyers of Rs. 11.3 million worth of shares on Friday, extending the year-to-date foreign inflows to Rs. 22.82 billion.
