Bourse slips

Reuters: Stocks slipped on Monday from their three-week highs as investors sold large cap shares such as Ceylon Tobacco Co Plc, but foreign investors continued to be net buyers, dealers said. The main share index fell 0.54%, or 31.25 points, to close at 5,782.85, edging down from its highest close since 30 August. Foreign investors were net buyers of Rs. 9.6 million ($ 72,600) worth of shares on Monday, extending net foreign inflows in equities this year to Rs. 19.13 billion. Shares in Ceylon Tobacco fell 2.37% to Rs. 1,041.40. Monday’s turnover was Rs. 485.8 million, about half of this year’s daily average of about Rs. 879.8 million.
