Cabinet nod for Consulate General in Milan

Cabinet has approved the proposal made by External Affairs Minister Prof. G.L. Peiris to establish a Consulate General of Sri Lanka in Milan, Italy once the concurrence of the Italian authorities is received, and to proceed with the related activities. The city of Milan is the main industrial, commercial and financial centre of Italy. The Italian Stock Exchange and the headquarters of major national banks and multinational companies are located in this region. More than 75% of Sri Lanka’s trade with Italy is handled by the Italian companies based in Milan. The Sri Lankan community is the sixth largest immigrant community in Milan.
