By Sarah Hannan Cathay Pacific Airways yesterday announced that it will enhance its services from Sri Lanka by operating four non- stop flights to Hong Kong commencing 27 October. The enhancements will make Cathay Pacific the only airline to offer a scheduled direct flight to Hong Kong out of Colombo. The existing thrice-weekly service via Bangkok will allow the airline to operate daily flights from Colombo. Cathay Pacific Country Manager Sri Lanka and Maldives Anna Choi said: “Cathay Pacific has been serving Sri Lanka for over twenty years and it remains an important market for us. This service enhancement will help promote ties between Sri Lanka and Hong Kong and also strengthen Hong Kong’s position as a leading aviation hub. We are also confident that our award-winning Business Class seat and new Premium Economy product will be well received by customers travelling from Sri Lanka.” “We are delighted to be able to offer direct flights between Colombo and Hong Kong, which will cut down the flying time for passengers travelling to one of Asia’s most exciting cities. Hong Kong is a leading tourist destination and home to the closest Disneyland from Colombo. The new flights will also seamlessly connect our passengers to destinations in China, Japan, Korea, North America and Australia, amongst others. With the new service enhancements our Singapore bound passengers will have the option of flying on our service via Bangkok,” Cathay Pacific Sales & Marketing Manager Sri Lanka & Maldives Vishnu Rajendran added.
