Chevron President and Asia Pacific VP in town for opening of modern lubricant blending facility

Global giant Chevron’s President Colleen Cervantes will be in Sri Lanka tomorrow together with Asia Pacific Vice President Farrukh Saeed for the ceremonial opening of the state-of-the- art lubricant blending plant and the warehouse facility located at Sapugaskanda. The grand opening ceremony will also be graced by local dignitaries, media and other key stakeholders of the company. Saeed is also the Chairman of Chevron Lubricants Lanka Plc. As president of Chevron Lubricant since July 2013, Cervantes is responsible for the manufacture, blending, sales and marketing of base oils, finished lubricants as well as coolants to industrial and direct consumers worldwide. On her first visit to Sri Lanka, Cervantes will be on a tight schedule to experience Sri Lankan hospitality and to have discussions with the company’s key stakeholders. The global head will also be visiting the market to understand the Sri Lankan market environment to be able to provide direction to the local management. Chevron Lubricants Lanka Plc said it was pleased to welcome Cervantes and Saeed along with the other distinguished leaders from Chevron Lubricants on their visit to Sri Lanka to grace the ceremonial opening of the lubricant blending plant and warehouse facility to serve the both local and the export market in its drive to create greater value for the country’s economy. Cervantes, who has a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering from Michigan Technological University received in 1983, has a 30-year career with Chevron. She started her career as a project engineer in the company’s retail marketing department. Prior to her appointment as President of Chevron Lubricants, she was the Vice President, product supply and trading, with global responsibility for the supply of non-crude feedstocks to Chevron’s refining system, refined products supply and trading, marine fuels marketing and biofuels supply and trading. The current president of Chevron Lubricants has also served the company as Vice President, Global Marketing, Asia-Pacific region, where she was responsible for the retail sales and terminal operations, commercial and industrial fuel sales and asphalt operations throughout an 11-country area. While in Asia, Cervantes also served on the Board of Directors for Caltex Australia Ltd., the largest refining and marketing company in Australia. Prior to that assignment, Cervantes was General Manager, Retail West, North America Marketing, where she was responsible for gasoline marketing and retail sales at nearly 3,000 Chevron and Texaco-branded stations in the Western US. Cervantes also served as General Manager of Company Owned Stores and President of Chevron Stations Inc, which included a network of more than 700 retail outlets. The current head of Chevron who is based in the Chevron headquarters in San Ramon, USA travels extensively to provide direction and review business operations around the world. Chevron Lubricants has, over the past several years, improved its profitability through effective execution of strategy with specific focus on growth markets around the world such as Sri Lanka.
