Following the mega success of the Cyber Security Summit last year, the Daily FT and CICRA Consultancies Ltd. have announced the 2014 edition of Sri Lanka’s premier cyber security conference.
The ‘Cyber Security Summit 2014’ will be held on 5 August in Colombo, CICRA Director/CEO Boshan Dayaratne said.
“The summit will comprise four combined events, namely, Leadership Forum for C-Suite on Cyber Security – a breakfast meeting, Cyber Security Summit Day Conference, the Night Hack and Post-Summit Technical Sessions,” Dayaratne said.
“This year’s summit will provide the participants with a novel and advanced perspective on cyber security and we will have more reputed international speakers this year. Some of them have already confirmed.”
Dayaratne said that the Summit Secretariat is already planning to have vendor exhibition along with the conference.
As cyber security threats skyrocket and not a day passes by without a news report on cyber security breach on a corporate entity or a government on its IT infrastructure, CICRA – Sri Lanka’s premier cyber security education provider – and Daily FT – Sri Lanka’s only financial newspaper – respectively have joined together for the second consecutive year to host the Cyber Security Summit 2014.
During the 2013 summit, EC-Council President Jay Bavisi, international cyber security trainer and consultant Krishnan Rajagopal and speakers from CISCO and several top IT organisations were among the top speakers.
‘National Preparedness against Cyber Attacks’ was the main focus of the Cyber Security Summit day conference. ‘The Cyber Security Quagmire: Finding the Panacea,’ ‘Securing the Code: Penetration Testing Beyond Compliance,’ ‘Disaster Recovery and Business Continuity: How resilient are you against Cyber Attacks?’ ‘Trust in Electronically-Mediated Environments: Why We Need Cyber Security,’ ‘Cloud and Virtualisation: Cutting Costs vs. Cyber Threats’ and ‘Piracy: The Unexpected Cause of Cyber Security Risks’ were among the key topics discussed during the day summit.
The day summit was followed by an eventful night hack which had live hacking demonstrations for education purposes.
