Citibank Asia Pacific Chief Economist in town

Citigroup Asia Pacific Chief Economist Johanna Chua along with a group of investors is in Sri Lanka on a familiarization visit.

During the visit she and the investors will meet with top blue chip clientele of Citi in Sri Lanka and observe developments and see for new opportunities. Johanna is a Managing Director, Chief Asia Pacific Economist and Head of Asia Pacific Economic and Market Analysis at Citigroup. Based in Hong Kong since 2000, she oversees overall economic research across the Asia Pacific Region (ex-Japan), covering macro developments for clients across FX, fixed-income and equity markets.

Previously, Johanna was the Chief Asia Emerging Markets Trading Strategist (Fixed Income, Commodities and Currencies), and the Asia Sovereign Fixed Income Analyst prior to 2009.

Asiamoney FX client poll ranked Citi Asia Economics Team No. 1 in 2011, and the team contributed to the No. 2 ranking for EM Research in the Euromoney FX poll for 2012. The Asset magazine rated Johanna No. 1 for Asia research in the 2012 Asia Local Currency Bond Survey, No. 2 for Top economist/strategist for 2012 G3 Bond markets survey, as well as no. 1 economist in 2006-2011.

Johanna was among the top three analysts in Asia Macro/Strategy category in the 2009 and 2010 Eleonora Survey (European investors). Johanna was a leading member of the Citi team rated No. 1 in fixed-income research by Finance Asia magazine in 2008, 2007, 2005. Finance Asia also rated Johanna No. 1 in sovereign credit research for nine consecutive years (2001-2009) and ranked her among the “Best Analysts” across all sectors, including corporate credits (No. 2 in 2010, No. 3 in 2009).
