Clubbing with no cash British national to be deported

A British national who was arrested on charges of having defaulted nightclub bills valued at Rs. 114,166 at two night clubs in Colpetty was ordered to be deported by a Colombo Court after being found that he was overstaying in the country without a valid visa.  



British national Darrel Julian was arrested by Colpetty Police on a complaint made by a manager of a nightclub in Colpetty. The manager of the nightclub had complained to the police that a British national who used its facilities on 4 March tried to leave without paying the bill amounting to Rs. 44,166.





When the club management had asked him to pay the bill, the British national had told them that he did not have money to pay the bill. The suspect had told the club management that he would make the payment through his ATM card. The complainant further alleged that although the suspect promised to make the payment through the bank account, it was leant that there was no money in his bank account.

Meanwhile, the complainant further alleged that the suspect had also used facilities of another nightclub affiliated to his company. He alleged that the suspect had defaulted on the bill by committing a criminal breach of trust with regard to Rs. 70,000.

Soon after his arrest, Police had searched the passport of the suspect and found that he was overstaying in the country without a valid visa.

When the suspect was produced before Colombo Fort Magistrate Kanishka Wijeratne, he was ordered to be deported. The Magistrate further the directed the prison authorities that the British national be kept in the Mirihana detention camp until the Court order was implemented.
