Colombo Land and Development Company (CLDC) yesterday said the full time chairman was needed to handle the next phase of growth of the company. In announcing the appointment of Prof. Krishan Deheragoda as Chairman following the stepping down of Dr. Nalaka Godahewa, the company said the move was to enable the company to have a full time chairman to handle the next phase of its development.  Prof. Deheragoda was previously Deputy Chairman whilst he was also the Chairman once, in addition to being former Chairman of Urban Development Authority which owns a 17% stake in CLDC. Godahewa first joined the CLDL Board in 2010 and was appointed Chairman in the following year. The company said it has already completed its latest venture at the Liberty Arcade Shopping Mall in Kollupitiya and has started a major renovation of the existing malls in the city. In August, the company hopes to launch its flagship venture, Liberty Square Business Park, in the heart of Pettah. Deheragoda is the longest serving Board member of the CLDC. He was the Chairman from 2000-2002, Vice Chairman 2008-2011 and Director from 2011.
