Colombo Land and Development Company (CLND) is to build a 180-room city hotel in its bid to tap the rebound in tourism in post-war Sri Lanka.

The company announced yesterday that the Board of Directors entered into an agreement to purchase a plot of land on Duplication Road, adjacent to the Liberty Plaza southern car park, for Rs. 221 million.

“The objective of this acquisition is to construct a 180-room city hotel. The planned project is expected to commence in 2H2012 and will be completed in FY2014,” the company added.
