Colombo tea auction’s averages in Sept. highest ever

Total auction average for September 2013 totalled 475.83, showing a gain of Rs. 56.05 vis-à-vis 419.78 of 2012, Forbes and Walker Tea Brokers said. “It is also noteworthy that this is the highest monthly auction average recorded, surpassing the previous best of Rs. 444.07 achieved in August 2013,” the broking firm added. Similarly high growns totalling 451.43 for September show a growth of 33.48 vis-à-vis 417.95 of 2012. Here again in USD terms, the September average of US$ 3.42 shows a gain of US$ 0.24 vis-à-vis US$ 3.18 of 2012. Mediums totalling 423.58 for September 2013 show a gain of Rs. 47.57 vis-à-vis 376.01 of 2012. In USD terms September 2013 medium grown average of US$ 3.21 shows a gain of US$ 0.34 vis-à-vis US$ 2.87 of 2012.
