COMBank opens landmark 200th branch in land of the gods

The Commercial Bank’s commitment to extend its award-winning services to all parts of Sri Lanka reaches a milestone today, with the opening of the Bank’s 200th branch in the sacred city of Kataragama.

The Bank’s Chairman Mahendra Amarasuriya and Managing Director Amitha Gooneratne will officiate at the ceremonial inauguration of this landmark branch, which is located at No. 12, New Town, Kataragama.

The new branch is equipped with two Automated Teller Machines that are linked to Commercial Bank’s 430 other ATMs in Sri Lanka, and to more than one million ATMs of the of the Cirrus (Mastercard network) and Visa networks worldwide. It is also computer-linked to the Bank’s all other branches and customer service points in Sri Lanka, enabling customers from any part of the country to access their accounts from the new branch.

“Kataragama is an appropriate location for our 200th branch,” Commercial Bank’s Chief Operating Officer Ravi Dias said. “It attracts people of many faiths from all over Sri Lanka. The new branch will serve the needs of the thousands of visitors while enhancing the banking experience of the resident population.”

“Commercial Bank has traditionally opened its milestone branches in historically important places in Sri Lanka. The Bank’s 50th branch was opened in Dambulla, the 100th in Kaduruwela, Polonnaruwa, 150th in Mahiyangana and now the 200th in Kataragama,” Dias added.

Commercial Bank is the largest private bank in Sri Lanka, and the most internationally lauded financial institution in the country. The Bank has been adjudged the ‘Best Bank in Sri Lanka’ for 13 consecutive years by ‘Global Finance’ Magazine and has won multiple awards as the country’s best bank from ‘The Banker,’ ‘FinanceAsia,’ ‘Euromoney’ and ‘Trade Finance’ magazines.
