COPE report restrained

A restraining order was issued against the release of the Committee on Public Enterprises (COPE) Sub Committee report on the February 2015 Central Bank 30-year Treasury bond issue until 23 July.

The restraining order was issued by the Colombo District Court following a case filed by former MP and Deputy Minister Sujeewa Senasinghe.

The move comes despite Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe recently disclosing that there was no complete official or interim report by the COPE over the bond fiasco since the eight-member committee couldn’t agree and finalise the observations.
