Court made order yesterday appointing a provisional liquidator for Orient Garments PLC.
The appointment was sequel to an application made by Dr. Senthilverl, the Petitioner, in the winding up application, HC Civil 09/2015/CO, pending before the Commercial High Court of Colombo and the largest shareholder of Orient Garments PLC.
It was submitted on behalf of Dr. Senthilverl that the OGL’s former Directors including the former Chairman had resigned and payments due to ETF had not been paid, hence a provisional liquidator was required to be appointed as a matter of urgency.
Application was also made on behalf of Adam Investments PLC to intervene in the matter. Moreover, certain other creditors as well as certain employees of an associate company of OGL also sought permission to intervene in the matter.
Court issued notice on the provisional liquidator and directed that the matter be called on 29 March. Avindra Rodrigo with Shanaka Gunasekara appeared for Dr. Senthilverl and Chandaka Jayasundera appeared for the party seeking to intervene.
