The Cabinet has approved the purchase of two vessels for the Ceylon Shipping Corporation Ltd.
Official sources said the purchase was approved following a proposal made by President Mahinda Rajapaksa in his capacity as the Minister of Highways, Ports and Shipping.
Ships will be purchased as recommended by the Cabinet Appointed Negotiating Committee (CANC) and Cabinet also approved the Director General of the Department of External Resources to finalise formalities of loan arrangements.
