Blue Diamonds seeks approval to subdivide shares
Blue Diamonds Jewellery Worldwide Plc announced it would hold an Extraordinary General Meeting to obtain approval to subdivide its shares. The sub division will be based on the number of shares on 4 May. Dealing on the shares of the company will be suspended from 8 to 10 May and the shares will commence trading on 11 May. Yesterday Blue Diamonds voting shares closed flat at Rs. 5.40 when 559,017 shares traded.
Commercial Bank debenture issue opens on 27 March
Commercial Bank opens its Rs. 1 billion debenture issue on 27 March. The bank will offer 500,000 unsecured, subordinated, redeemable debentures of Rs. 1,000 each with the option to issue another 500,000 if the issue is oversubscribed. The Colombo Stock Exchange has approved an application for the listing on the Main Board.
CTC appoints Aruful Islam as Finance Director
Ceylon Tobacco Company has appointed Aruful Islam as a Finance Director from 13 March. He replaces Atif Hasan who steps down from the Board. Islam has worked at British American Tobacco since 1997 in various roles across Bangladesh, Vietnam and Fiji. He holds an MBA in Finance from the Institute of Business Administration, Dhaka University, BSc Honours in Economics from Scottish Church College, Calcutta University and an Advanced Diploma in Management Accounting from the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants, UK. Before joining CTC he was the Finance Controller at British American Tobacco, Bangladesh and before that worked as the Finance Director of British American Tobacco, Fiji.
