Commonwealth Heads of Government yesterday adopted the Colombo Declaration following three day deliberations on a host of issues centred on the theme of Equitable Growth and Inclusive development, President Mahinda Rajapaksa said. The President said the issued had covered development, political values, global threats and challenges and Commonwealth collaboration. “As host we are happy with the outcomes,” the President said, addressing the concluding press conference of CHOGM 2013 yesterday. The CHOGM Communique, the Colombo Declaration, the Kotte Statement on Trade and Investment and the Magampura Declaration on Youth, have been issued following the summit. President Rajapaksa said the declarations had followed “fruitful discussions” during the summit. In the Colombo Declaration, Commonwealth Heads of Government committed to work towards developing supportive global policies to address poverty, food security, climate change mitigation and adaptation, inequalities in trade, predictable and adequate finances, investments, knowledge and technology transfers, as well as in increasing voices in the global economic, trade and financial order to achieve growth with equity. (DB)
