Dharmasiri new GM at BOC

Senior banker K. Dharmasiri yesterday assumed office as the new General Manager at Bank of Ceylon.

He succeeded W.A. Nalani who retired last week after a 37 year stint. Prior to elevation as the General Manager, Dharmasiri who joined BOC in 1975, was the Additional General Manager (Recovery), a post which he assumed in June last year. He has been a member of the BOC’s Corporate Management since 2002.

He bears a First Class Honours Degree in Commerce in 1974 and holds a Bachelor of Philosophy in Economics in 1976 from the University of Colombo, Sri Lanka.

Dharmasiri brings a rich and diversified banking experience both locally and abroad, since joining the bank in 1975, which includes monitoring and restructuring of nonperforming assets, strategic planning, corporate financial reporting and reorganisation of branches.

He has also held key positions in Audit, Corporate and Offshore Banking. He held overseas assignments as the Country Manager at BoC branch in Male from 1997 to 2000 and Managing Director of Nepal Bank of Ceylon Limited in Nepal, in 2002.

A Non-Executive nominee Director on the Boards of Lanka Securities Ltd. and BoC Management and Support Services Ltd. He also served as a Non-Executive Nominee Director on the Boards of Janashakthi Insurance Ltd., Ceybank Holiday Homes Ltd., Hotels Colombo 1963 Ltd., BoC Property Development Ltd., BoC Travels Ltd., Mireka Capital Land Ltd., BoC Property Development & Management Ltd. and Sabaragamuwa Development Bank.

He is also an Associate Member of the Institute of Bankers of Sri Lanka.
