DIMO, Access Engineering, 99X, JIT Holdings and Daily FT sponsor deserving university students for C

Several private sector organisations demonstrating good corporate citizenship and to empower the future talent pool of the country have come forward to sponsor the participation of deserving university students at the full-day Cyber Security Summit 2014 today. The companies which came forward are DIMO, Access Engineering, 99X, and Just In Time Holdings, in addition to the Daily FT. Several universities were requested to nominate students who will benefit from the global expertise to be shared at the Summit. Thereafter approximately 30 students drawn from Colombo, Kelaniya, Jaffna and Sabaragamuwa universities were selected. The Summit will be ceremoniously opened by Economic Development Minister Basil Rajapaksa. The full-day forum which will be held today at the Cinnamon Lakeside Colombo will focus on how Sri Lanka can secure its future $ 100 billion economy from cyber attacks as well as impart useful global insights on Corporate Data Loss in the 21st Century; Software Defined Networking for Security – Next Generation Threat Visibility and Control; Role of Cyber Security in National Security Framework; Fighting Cybercrime and Leveraging Cyber-Threat Intelligence to keep Internet Safer and Net Wars: Is there any hope? The main objective of the Summit is to create awareness on the importance of cyber security and to provide top officers in the Government, top private sector leaders, IT professionals with the best practices in acquiring, implementing, managing and measuring information security postures of their organisations and countermeasures. The Summit will also highlight latest flaws in information security that affects the global community including corporations and governments. Discussions and presentations will revolve around some of the most malicious attacks and potential threats surrounding the security field. CISCO and Microsoft are strategic partners for the events, whilst InfoWatch is the technical partner. The events are supported by the Ministry of Telecommunications and the ICT Agency (ICTA).
