Dipped Products Plc yesterday in a statement rejected what it called as “undue” allegations on water quality in the general area of Weliweriya due to operations of its factory.
Villagers in the general area of Weliweriya have been engaging in a campaign to get the attention of the relevant authorities with regards to the quality of their well water.
In a statement issued by Managing Director Dr. Mahesha Ranasoma DPL said that the company had conducted its factory operations for many years in accordance with the environmental norms set by the regulatory authorities and therefore can assure that its treated water has no connection to the low quality of water in the general area of Weliveriya.
Established in 1976, DPL is one of the leading non-medical rubber glove manufacturers in the world, and accounts for a 5% share of the global market. The company’s products now reach 70 countries.
