The Ministry of Economic Development had spent Rs. 131 million to construct the Nugegoda ‘Janatha Pola’. This trade complex, ceremoniously opened by Economic Development Minister Basil Rajapaksa, has 202 stalls, with water electricity, sanitary, parking and storage facilities.
In addition to the ‘Janatha Pola’ trade complex, infrastructure facilities have also been developed under this project.
With this project, vendors of the Nugegoda have been given new stalls to carry out their businesses with ease and consumers assured of a better standard of goods for purchase.

Fowzie, Minister of Water Supply and Drainage Dinesh Gunawardena, Minister of Petroleum Industries Susil Premajayatha, Minister of Construction, Engineering Services, Housing and Common Amenities Wimal Weerawansa, Governor of the Western Province Alawi Moulana, Deputy Minister of Disaster Management Dulip Wijesekara, MP Duminda Silva, former Foreign Minister and Chief Organiser of the Kotte electorate division Rohitha Bogollagama and Sri Lanka Engineering Corporation Chairman Jagath Perera also participated at this occasion
