United National Party National List MP Eran Wickremaratne who also participated in yesterday’s media briefing called on the Government to reveal who owned the 10% stake in Packer’s casino project that his local partners have refused to divulge. Wickremaratne said Packer’s Crown Casinos owned 45% of the shares while Rank Holdings in Sri Lanka also owned 45%. “Who owns the remaining 10%? When a journalist queried Rank Holdings Chairman Ravi Wijeratne about this remaining stake recently, he said it was foreign owned but the investor could not be revealed,” Wickremaratne said. He said that transparent investment was necessary and it was the responsibility of the Government to reveal the other foreign investor. “When the LTTE was defeated, it was revealed that the organisation had millions in accounts overseas and tons of gold. That money belongs to the Sri Lankan state that defeated the terrorist organisation. That money has to be openly and transparently reinvested by the state for the welfare of the citizens. It cannot come into the country through other devious ways,” Wickremaratne stated.
