With effect from tomorrow (5), it will be possible to view the results of all examinations published by the Department of Examinations via internet and SMS (Short Message Service).
“The launch of this e-Service under ICTA’s Re-engineering Government Program will facilitate viewing of the results of all examinations published by the Department of Examinations via internet and SMS,” ICT Agency of Sri Lanka (ICTA) Chairman Senior Presidential Advisor and Peradeniya University Chancellor Professor P.W. Epasinghe said.
This will be implemented under the e-Services initiative of the Re-engineering Government Program of ICTA. It was launched for providing all State services to the public in a systematic and efficient manner in accordance with the instructions of President Mahinda Rajapaksa.
Commissioner General of Examinations W.M.N.J. Pushpakumara says that currently the Examinations Department conducts more than 300 examinations annually. Out of these, so far, the results of only a few examinations are issued via internet and SMS. These include the G.C.E. Ordinary Level and Advanced Level and Grade 5 Scholarship examinations.
However, under ICTA’s e-Services initiative, it will be possible to know the results of all examinations of the Department examinations via internet and SMS from tomorrow. Professor Epasinghe said that it would also be possible for Examinations Department examination result hopefuls to apply via the internet SMS for an official results copy of their examination.
The ICTA Chairman pointed out that Sri Lanka was the first country in South Asia providing such an e-Service. ICTA has already taken steps to provide several very important citizen services to the people of this country via internet and SMS. Currently all activities from obtaining vehicle revenue licence to the Colombo Municipal Council (CMC) rates payments are carried out with the aid of information technology.
The examination results could be obtained through results.exams.gov.lk as well as through srilanka.lk.
Further, the exam results can also be viewed via SMS, by sending an SMS request to 1919 using the short code “exams <exam code> <index no>”. The Department of Examinations will be publishing the relevant exam code as it releases the results of the respective examinations.
