Former Unilever boss Amal Cabraal joins HNB board

The Board of Hatton National Bank PLC has appointed Amal Cabraal as an Independent Non-Executive Director with effect from 1 April 2014.  With the new appointment, the Board of Hatton National Bank PLC will consist of ten Directors of which six will be Non-Executive Independent Directors. Amal Cabraal is the former Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Unilever Sri Lanka. He has over three decades of business experience in general management, marketing and sales and apart from Sri Lanka, he has served with Unilever in the United Kingdom, India and Bangladesh. He is an alumnus of INSEAD-France and holds a MBA from the University of Colombo, a Chartered Marketer by profession and a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Marketing – UK. He serves on the Monetary Policy Consultative Committee of the Central Bank of Sri Lanka and is a member of the Management Committee of the Mercantile Services Provident Society. He is an external independent Director of John Keells Holdings PLC, Ceylon Beverage Holdings PLC, Lion Brewery (Ceylon) PLC, and also serves on the Supervisory Board of Associated Motorways Ltd. HNB will undoubtedly benefit from Cabraal’s expertise in marketing and management.  The bank said that Cabraal’s wide exposure to global business will help the bank in its new business development initiatives.
