Power and Energy Minister Champika Ranawaka yesterday denied any fuel shortage at the 1,186 pumping stations spread around the country and insisted sufficient stocks were available. A Ministry statement issued yesterday alleged supply shortages might hit IOC outlets on a decision made by the company but stressed no limitations had been imposed on Ceylon Petroleum Corporation (CPC) stations. “Minister Champika Ranawaka is of the opinion that parties should discuss any concerns they have regarding Government imposed taxes on fuel imports with the Finance Ministry and appealed for consumers not to be inconvenienced,” the statement added. Fuel stations in the heart of Colombo were seen conducting brisk business- Pic by Lasantha Kumara
