All ruling party MPs have been instructed to be present in Parliament, with political circles buzzing with speculation that a high profile UNP legislator will switch allegiances today. Speculation was rife that UNP Kurunegala District MP Dayasiri Jayasekera was likely to cross over to the UPFA and be nominated as the ruling party’s chief ministerial candidate at the upcoming north western provincial poll.
Earlier President Mahinda Rajapaksa refused to make the nomination ahead of the election whilst over the weekend reports indicated that Dayasiri will not cross the great divide after several rounds of discussions with UNP bigwigs. (DB)
