Gajma and Company, (Gajma), one of the foremost tax consultants and highly respected for professionalism, with reference to the Daily FT’s article on 31 October titled ‘Former Lotteries Board Chief charged for corruption,’ clarified its professional services were retained by the National Lotteries Board (NLB) only because assessments were issued on NLB by the Inland Revenue Department (IRD).

Gajma was prepared to defend the NLB by submitting petitions of appeal. The petitions of appeal made by Gajma for and on behalf of the NLB, were held in favour of the NLB and the IRD discharged the notices of assessment for several years and there was very substantial financial benefit to NLB as a result of the appeals held in its favour.  Gajma also clarified that the amount stated in the article was incorrect and there was substantial benefit to the NLB as a result of the professional services of  the Company. However, Gajma refrained from mentioning the exact financials due to the reason of professional confidentiality. Gajma also said there was no allegation or charge against the company in this case.
