Gamini Wickramasinge new Chairman at Lanka Hospitals

Top business leader Dr. Gamini Wickramasinghe has been appointed as the new Chairman of The Lanka Hospitals Corporation Plc (formerly Apollo).
His appointment follows the resignation of former Defence and Urban Development Secretary Gotabayak Rajapaksa as Chairman of the Company after the defeat of President Mahinda Rajapaksa regime. Via Sri Lanka Insurance Corporation and Bank of Ceylon subsidiary Property Development Plc, the Government controls owns nearly 70% stake in Lanka Hospitals.
World renowned Fortis Global Healthcare holds 29%.
Informatics Group fame Dr. Wickramasinghe was the former Chairman of Bank of Ceylon, the Securities and Exchange Commission and Insurance Board of Sri Lanka. He also served the Board of Lanka Hospitals as Ex Officio of Bank of Ceylon.
Another Non Executive Independent Director appointed was Kumar Jayasuriya of James Finlay fame. His appointment was in place of Roshinee Cabraal who too resigned following the defeat of President Rajapaksa Government.
Jayasuriya is currently the Non Executive Chairman at Finlays Colombo, a post he acquire after serving the company for a long time. He also serves on the Boards of Central Finance, Nations Trust Bank, ETF Board, Lanka Aluminium Industries and Acme Printing and Packaging Plc.
