Acknowledging the growth of the travel and tourism sector of Sri Lanka, visiting Chartered Institute of Marketing (CIM) UK President Sir Paul Judge on Tuesday stressed on the need for more marketing professionals to boost the industry and its contribution to socioeconomic prosperity.
With the tourism sector having experienced hardship for over 30 years due to the war, “new leading hotel chains, even such as Shangri-La coming into Sri Lanka, these are all huge developments,” said Judge during an interview with the Daily FT.
Identifying the requirement for marketing personnel in the industry, CIM would be launching a specific study for the travel and tour sector towards the end of 2013 to help address the gap, he added.
