Govt. and US Embassy discuss strengthening links

At a meeting with Charge d’Affaires of the US Embassy, Andrew C. Mann, Deputy Minister of Policy Implementation and Economic Affairs Dr. Harsha De Silva yesterday discussed the need to increase investment and technical assistance from the US in order to create high-paying jobs for Sri Lankan citizens. Dr. De Silva said the Government would also work to increase exports to the United States, already the country’s largest export market. The new Deputy Minister and the Acting Head of Mission also discussed strengthening bilateral and economic ties between the two countries and the challenges and problems faced in the recent past. The pair met at the Prime Minister’s Office in Colombo. Economic Affairs Officer at the US Embassy Christopher T. Corky was also present at the meeting.
