Govt. to purchase US$ 115.8 m road equipment from China

Machinery for construction of provincial roads is to be purchased from China for US$ 115.8 million.

Cabinet on Wednesday gave approval for the purchase of the equipment for the work being done under the Economic Development Ministry.



The proposal, made by Economic Development Minister Basil Rajapaksa on the recommendation of the Standing Cabinet appointed Review Committee to purchase plant and machinery required for road construction works from China National Aero – Technology Import and Export Corporation for a sum of US$ 115.8 million (Rs.12, 369.6 million), was approved by the Cabinet.
