Meetings scheduled by UN High Commissioner for Human Rights Navi Pillay will not be controlled by the Government, Monitoring MP Sajin Vaas Gunewardane said.
He said that while the Government would be informed of Pillay’s broad agenda, it would not be able to decide who she will be permitted to talk to during her visit.
“She is expected to travel north and speak to civil society activists and others there – she has the freedom to speak to whoever she wants to,” he added.
