Hambantota beckons investors for top forum on Saturday

In an attempt to lure more investors into Hambantota and explain new opportunities available there, a top forum will be held on 31 August.
Organised by the Hambantota District Chamber of Commerce (HDCC), the special half-day investment forum will be held from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Mahinda Rajapaksa International Cricket Stadium, Sooriyawewa.
The forum will accommodate only 150 participants who will be offered seats on a first-come-first served basis. Targeting international, national, potential and existing investors and top heads of companies and senior Government officials, the event will serve as a platform to be updated on the status of ongoing development projects and explore available investment opportunities.
In addition to this, participants will be able to interact with the relevant senior Government and business officials in the region and witness major development activities that are taking shape.
The forum will address topics such as various business opportunities in the Hambantota district in the context of the wider development of the Sri Lankan economy, the development plan of the district, and prevailing potentials in the Hambantota port, Mattala airport and tourism.
The keynote address will be delivered by an official from the Central Bank of Sri Lanka on the topic ‘
‘Various business opportunities in Hambantota district in the context of the wider development of the economy’, and presentations will be made by a diverse set of institutions such as the Urban Development Authority (UDA) on ‘Development plan for the Hambantota district’, Sri Lanka Ports Authority (SLPA) on ‘Hambantota Port and associated opportunities’, Airport and Aviation Ltd. on ‘Mattala airport and associated opportunities including tourism’ and HDCC on ‘Business and investment climate in the Hambantota district’.
Additionally, there will be presentations by the Board of Investment (BOI) and Sri Lanka Tourism. The forum will also feature a panel discussion which will be followed by a question and answer session.
On request, participants can also participate in field tours to development projects such as the port, airport and convention centre. Interested participants are expected to register with the HDCC before 25 August 2013.
