Harsha to share possible scenarios for exchange rate at SLASA forum

Consultant Economist and UNP MP Dr. Harsha De Silva will share ‘possible scenarios for the exchange rate’ on 30 May at Waters Edge at a forum organised by the Sri Lanka Apparel Sourcing Association (SLASA).

The exchange rate of late has been a contentious issue and its future outlook will be of importance for the apparel industry, hence SLASA has invited Dr. De Silva to address the issue at what it described as ‘sundown meeting’ starting from 6 p.m.

Participation at the seminar is via prior registration at Rs. 2,000 per person.

Dr. De Silva, the 2011 Eisenhower Fellow, is a trained economist with a Ph.D. from the University of Missouri. An entrepreneur who founded, among others, Sri Lanka’s largest market research agency, he is an academic and a researcher with years of experience in development finance, technology and development as well as a policy maker with a stint in public enterprise reform.

He is currently a Member of Parliament of Sri Lanka, representing the opposition United National Party. Dr. De Silva has taught economics in the US and in Sri Lanka and published widely on economics of ICT for development in Asia and Africa and on macroeconomic management in Sri Lanka. He serves on the boards of two knowledge-based consulting firms and when time permits undertakes academic work on technology and development.
