Hemas Transportation yesterday announced the expansion of its logistics service portfolio, through a joint venture with Forwardair Logistics (Pvt) Ltd., and has rebranded it as Hemas Logistics.
Managing Director, Hemas Transportation Sector, Kasturi Chellaraja Wilson said: “With this joint venture we will expand our integrated logistics solutions capability through container transport and the movement of over-dimensional and project cargo in Sri Lanka. In parallel we will expand in the sphere of vehicle logistics in Sri Lanka with the opening of the new Hambantota harbour.
It is our aim to be the preferred choice in Sri Lanka for both containerised, project and other specialised cargo movements.”
“Hemas Logistics will continue to offer logistics solutions to the major shipping lines calling at the Colombo Port. It will also work alongside other forwarders and logistics companies for inland haulage solutions to sites in all parts of the country,” Wilson added.
Supporting the Hemas Logistics’ service capability is its current fleet of over 30 prime movers, trailers including skeleton, flat-bed, low-bed trailers and car carriers. It also has the necessary lifting equipment and lashing gears for the safe transport of over-dimensional cargo and is therefore capable of undertaking any type of heavy movement of cargo without depending on third parties for transport equipment.
Its greatest strength lies in its experience and its skilled staff working under a professional management team. Hemas Transportation has employed the best in the industry, a dedicated work force with hands-on experience in transport and project cargo management.
“Our long term plans include diversification into other logistics activities such as container depot, warehousing and container freight station activities, thereby enriching our integrated solutions to our customers,” Wilson affirmed.
A member of the Hemas Group, Hemas Transportation also has in its logistics segment a joint venture with Hellmann Worldwide Logistics (Pvt) Ltd. for freight forwarding, and with SKYNET for courier services, and an expansion plan in the maritime and aviation segments.
