Hatton National Bank (HNB) announced yesterday it will facilitate a pilot project on e-ticketing for buses, which is expected to commence next year. The pilot project will commence with long distance buses in the Southern Province operating under the Matara Passenger Transport Company. The project is in its initial stages and needs refinement. Matara Passenger Transport Company Limited President Aruna Halpage at the launch commended HNB for introducing a single card that could be used for commuting as well as for other transactions which include cash withdrawals and purchases. “The ‘HNB One’ card will make passengers lives’ a lot easier. It will help private bus owners, their conductors and drivers to manage their transactions better, and minimise any financial malpractice that could occur when money is physically handled. It will be a huge benefit overall,” he said.
