“The next wave of HR is ‘outside-in,’ looking through the window of strategy to what’s happening outside the company,” said Dave Ulrich, during his visit to Sri Lanka, as he led a practical, interactive and insightful session on ‘The Future of HR’ for an enthralled audience of 750 professionals from a variety of industries.
The HR Forum was held at the Grand Ballroom, Waters Edge yesterday and was jointly organised by several Sri Lankan professional bodies, to share Professor Ulrich’s expertise in the field, equipping the country’s businesses to better meet the challenges to come.
Ulrich is a Professor at the Ross School of Business, University of Michigan, and a partner at the RBL Group, a consulting firm focused on helping organisations and leaders deliver value. He studies how organisations build capabilities of leadership, speed, learning, accountability, and talent through leveraging human resources.
He has helped generate award-winning databases that assess alignment between strategies, organisation capabilities, HR practices, HR competencies, and customer and investor results.
He has published over 200 articles and book chapters and over 25 books. He edited Human Resource Management 1990-1999, served on editorial boards of four journals, on the Board of Directors for Herman Miller, and Board of Trustees at Southern Virginia University, and is a Fellow of the National Academy of Human Resources.
The professional bodies that collaborated to make possible Professor Ulrich’s second visit to Sri Lanka were the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (CIMA), the Postgraduate Institute of Management (PIM), the Association of HR Professional (AHRP) and the Employers’ Federation of Ceylon (EFC).
