IBSL to host 10th Asian Forum of Insurance Regulators next week

The Insurance Board of Sri Lanka (IBSL) will be hosting the 10th annual conference of Asian Forum of Insurance Regulators (AFIR) on 27 and 28 July.

The theme of this year’s conference will be ‘Changing Landscape in Insurance Regulation’. The conference will be held at The Kingsbury, Colombo.

The two-day event has been scheduled to cover informative sessions 00 IAIS’s (International Association of Insurance Supervisors) role in promoting Insurance Capital Standards (ICS), sharing experience on new capital regimes; an ADB high-level round table on self-assessment and peer review of Insurance Core Principles (ICPs); a panel discussion on developing a common regulatory framework for inclusive insurance, sharing experience In developing micro insurance regulatory framework and the way forward for AFIR, which are vital topics of common interests to Asian insurance regulators.

Approximately 34 insurance regulators from 14 jurisdiction in the Asian region, the Secretary General of IAIS along with delegates from Access to Insurance Initiative (A2ii), Asian Development Bank (ADB) and the Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development (DECO) will attend this year’s conference.
