Information Communication Technology Agency (ICTA) Chief Executive Office Muhunthan Canagey resigned from his post yesterday after being told to do so by President Maithripala Sirisena via Telecommunication and Digital Infrastructure Minister Harin Fernando.

Canagey said the development follows after he questioned the issuing of spectrum worth $ 25 million to a leading private media house without any public auction or tender during the current President’s term of office.

“The spectrum should have been used for digitisation,” Canagey added.
