Dr. Anoop Singh, Director of the Asia and Pacific Department of the International Monetary Fund (IMF), will be delivering the keynote address at the inauguration of the Sri Lanka Economic Summit 2013. Dr. Singh has been the Director of the Asia and Pacific Department of the IMF since 2008.
Prior to that, he was the Director of the Western Hemisphere Department. His other appointments at the IMF have included: Director, Special Operations in the Office of the Managing Director; Senior Advisor, Policy Development and Review Department; Assistant Director, European Department; and IMF Resident Representative in Sri Lanka.
Minister (Senior) International Monetary Co-operation and Deputy Minister of Finance Dr. Sarath Amunugama is due to address the gathering as the Chief Guest. This year’s theme for the summit being ‘Re-Balancing the Economy,’ the discussions are expected to produce a set of strategies that can be adopted by the private sector and the Government to face the current challenges in the region.
The Inaugural Session will be held on 9 July, while the rest of the main sessions will be held on 10 and 11 July at Cinnamon Grand Colombo.
