Indian Govt’s top economic adviser at CCC summit

  • To deliver keynote address at Sri Lanka Economic Summit 2017 



The Chief Economic Adviser of the Government of India, Dr. Arvind Subramanian, will attend as the keynote speaker of the inaugural session of the Sri Lanka Economic Summit 2017. 

Subramanian, a Dennis Weatherstone Senior Fellow at the Peterson Institute for International Economics and Senior Fellow at the Centre for Global Development. 

He will speak at the inaugural session of the summit, which will be held on 25 and 26 July at the Cinnamon Grand Hotel Colombo.

The renowned economist, who was named one of the world’s top 100 global thinkers in 2011 by Foreign Policy magazine, has served as the Assistant Director in the Research Department of the International Monetary Fund and also served as the GATT during the Uruguay round of trade negotiations. He has also taught at both Harvard University’s Kennedy School of Government and at Johns Hopkins’ School for Advanced International Studies.

Subramanian has authored and co-authored several books. The books written by him are ‘Eclipse: Living in the Shadow of China’s Economic Dominance’, which was published in September 2011 and ‘India’s Turn: Understanding the Economic Transformation’. He also co-authored the book ‘Greenprint: A New Approach to Cooperation on Climate Change’.  

Dr. Subramanian has obtained his undergraduate degree from the St. Stephens College, Delhi, his MBA from the Indian Institute of Management in Ahmedabad, India and his M. Phil and D. Phil from the University of Oxford, UK.
