Iron One Technologies CEO Lakmini Wijesundara on Friday won the coveted Gold for the Best Woman Entrepreneur of the Year of Sri Lanka.
She received the award from President Maithripala Sirisena at the awards ceremony of the competition organised by the Women’s Chamber of Industry and Commerce (WCIC).
The competition held biennially to recognise the significant impact made by female business owners and empower them.
The award ceremony, held for the 9th year, recognised high achievers in the micro, small, medium and large categories. This year, ‘Woman Exporter of the Year’, ‘Most Promising Young Entrepreneur ‘and ‘Best Female Start-Up Enterprise’ were also recognised with new awards.
At the event, the President presented awards to ten women who have significantly contributed to the economy and development of the country.
Ministers Rishad Bathiudeen, Ravi Karunanayake, Patali Champika Ranawaka, Faizer Mustafa, Chandima Weerakkody and State Minister Sujeewa Senasinghe were also present at the occasion.
