Transparency International Sri Lanka (TISL) has drawn the attention of COPE Chairman Senior Minister D.E.W. Gunasekera on the need to issue reports more frequently.

In a letter to Minister Gunasekera, TISL Executive Director S. Ranugge has noted that COPE, TISL has suggested that every quarter at least an interim report should be released so that the public is made aware of issues which need their immediate attention.

TISL has been very active in the current Parliament and expressed TISL’s deep appreciation on the work done so far.

Pointing out that the 31-member Committee on Public Enterprises has held 217 meetings from 2012 until now, Ranugge states that this fact alone shows their enthusiasm and commitment.

The Committee has gone into the activities of 215 State enterprises. The first report was released on 1 December 2011 and an interim repost was issued on 25 October 2012.

Welcoming the news that another report is being finalised, TISL expects its early release which would enable the public to get an idea of how State enterprises are progressing.
