UNP’s national list nominee of media industry fame Krishantha Cooray yesterday claimed come 17 August, it will be a green light for Sri Lanka.
He said Sri Lanka and Sri Lankans scored an important victory on 8 January and that revolution saved the country from what he termed the Rajapaksas’ corrupt and lawless regime.
“Jungle law was replaced by the rule of law, the media was freed and the abuse of power brought to an end. This election itself is an example of that change: it is the first truly free, fair and lawful election in many years if not decades,” Cooray said.
He opined that the Rajapaksa family cabal has been unsuccessfully trying their utmost to creep through the back door. “But it is now very clear that they will be defeated yet again.”
“The people of Sri Lanka are tired of chaos and impatiently await an outright victory that will certainly take place on 17 August. There is no doubt that President Maithripala Sirisena and Premier Ranil Wickremesinghe will secure and entrench good governance, freedom, democracy and other rights that were rescued in the historic January revolution. It will also lay the foundation for stable economic growth, opportunity and peace that we and our children will enjoy for generations,” said Cooray.
“The plan is ready. The path is clear. It’s a green light for Sri Lanka,” he added.
