The Government of Japan has agreed to provide approximately Rs. 245 million (Yen 192 million) in grant assistance to Sri Lanka to implement a scholarship program on human resources development.
The human resources development scholarship program to be implemented this year will provide scholarships to Government officials to follow higher educational programs in reputed Japanese universities. The program aims to enable the Government officials to contribute to the social and economic development of the country in a productive manner.
Cabinet has given its approval for the Government to enter into a grant agreement with the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) for the scholarship program.
