Japan, India get deals to set up LNG plants

Cabinet yesterday granted approval to invite India and Japan to invest in two Liquid Natural Gas power plants of 500 MW each.

A joint proposal was made by Power and Renewable Energy Minister Ranjith Siyambalapitiya and Development Strategies and International Trade Ministry Malik Samarawickrama, to issue letters of interests to the two countries. 

The plants are to be set up as Government to Government investments.
