Popular English radio channel GOLD FM, continues to revolutionise the Sri Lankan entertainment industry, with yet another mesmerising concert added to its calendar this year with ‘Jon Secada – Live in Concert’ in December.
In the recent past GOLD has seen a plethora of phenomenal artists such as Cliff Richards, Leo Sayer and more recently Billy Ocean perform here. Secada will perform live with his 16-member band at a concert scheduled to take place on 8 December from 8 p.m. onwards, set to be an unforgettable evening for all those who attend. Secada, undoubtedly one of the most gifted artists of all time, boasts an extraordinary number of mega hits followed closely by an exceptional number of awards and achievements.
A three-time Grammy award winning recording artist, a dynamic live performer and a talented and insightful songwriter, Secada is an international superstar in his own right. He has performed with opera legend Luciano Pavarotti and even had the honour of recording a duet with the late Frank Sinatra.
Over the years, amassing a career sales total of 20 million albums worldwide, scoring Grammy Awards for best Latin pop album, best Latin performance and eight Billboard Top 100 singles, Secada, without doubt, is a living legend in the worldwide music industry.
His famous songs include ‘Just Another Day’ – the debut single released in 1992 which reached No. 5 on the Billboard Hot 100 and No. 2 on the Adult Contemporary chart; ‘Angel, Do You Believe In Us’ – number one in the Latin charts; ‘If You Go, I Am Free’ – another number one hit on the Latin charts; and ‘Too Late, Too Soon’.
Others include ‘Mental Picture,’ ‘Window To My Heart,’ ‘Free,’ ‘Stop,’ Coming Out Of The Dark’ and ‘She’s All I Ever Had’. The Spanish-language version called ‘Bella’ (Beautiful) peaked at number one for three weeks on the Hot Latin Songs and also reached the top for seven weeks on the Latin Pop Songs. The original English version peaked at number two on the Billboard Hot 100 in the United States. It was certified Gold for selling over 500,000 copies.
