Some 26 cases pending before the Supreme Court were postponed last morning, when two justices on a three-judge bench presided over by Justice Shiranee Tilakawardane failed to attend court.
Justice Tilakawardane, who was in attendance, decided to postpone the cases because of the improper composition of the bench.
The Supreme Court had listed the 26 cases to be heard before a three-judge bench comprising Justice Tilakawardane, Justice Chandra Ekanayake, and Justice S.I. Imam at Court 502.
Neither of the two absent judges had provided explanation for their absence, the Daily FT learns.
