Kapila, Kalsha join Brown’s Board

LOLC Group Managing Director and CEO Kapila Jayawardena and Executive Director Kalsha Upekha Amarasinghe have joined the Board of Brown and Company as Non Executive Directors.

The move follows LOLC acquiring 55% effective control of Brown and Company recently via a Rs. 1.3 billion deal.Despite selling out his stake, Ajith Devasurendra remains as Non Executive Deputy Chairman.

Kapila has over 27 years experience in financial services and served as CEO/Country Head Citi Bank in Sri Lanka and the Maldives for nine years prior to joining LOLC in June 2007.

He holds a MBA in Financial Management and an Associate of the Institute of Cost and Executive Accountants and was awarded Fellowship of the INstitute of Bankers in 2006.

Ms. Amarasinghe holds an Honours Degree in Economics and serves on several Boards of LOLC Group companies as well as Ishatra Traders Ltd and related companies.

Following the new appointments the Brown and Company Plc Board comprises of Rohini Nanayakkara (Chairperson), A.L. Devasurendra (Deputy Chairman), N.M. Prakash Group Managing Director and CEO, Shankar Somasunderam, Ishara Nanayakkara, Janaka De Silva, Kapila Jayawardena and Kalsha U. Amarasinghe.
