Karu or John for Speaker?

Senior UNP members Karu Jayasuriya and Gampaha District MP John Amaratunga are being proposed as nominees for the title of Speaker in Sri Lanka’s new Parliament.

The UNP hopes to propose Jayasuriya’s name for Speaker after the senior MP and the party’s Leadership Council Chairman enters Parliament on the national list, sources said.

Amaratunga’s name is also being proposed for the title, the sources added.
